The Victor Harbor Art Group is an enthusiastic group of people interested in many different forms of art. Most are casual artists, some belong to co-operatives, some are professionals, some paint occasionally or for special exhibitions. This society aims to cover everyone's interest and needs in art.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 7.00pm in the Old School House in the Victor Central car park, Torrens Street, Victor Harbor, South Australia. (Between KFC and Woolworths Petrol Station).
Meetings vary from:
* demonstrations by accomplished, professional artists
* talks about various aspects of the arts
* video presentations
* hands on art material testing
and special interest topics as they are suggested by members.
Annual membership fee is $35
The Society also organises workshops which are open to non members.
Recent workshops have included: Water Colours, Acrylics, Mixed Media, Collages, Scrape Boarding, Digital Art, Egg Tempera Painting and Painting to Music.
Workshops are sometimes planned away in other regions of South Australia, and may vary from a day to several days.
THE LAWN PAINTERS GROUP: A wonderful opportunity for artists
Members have been displaying and selling their work on the lawns of Warland Reserve for over 30 years! Usually on fine Sundays, but other days can be used.
An average Sunday in January sees 600 to 900 people viewing the paintings. Because the Art Society pays an insurance premium to the Victor Harbor Council, a small 10% commission is charged on all sales (payable on the day).
Members bring their own art, and stands and spend an enjoyable day with other artists while encouraging sales. Further instructions and helpful ideas are available at monthly meetings of the Society. Contact Sri Kress on 8552 3552 for more information.
THURSDAY PAINTING GROUP:
This group of members from the Society meets to paint together in a social atmosphere at the Lutheran Centre, Adelaide Road, Victor Harbor, from 9.30am to 12.30am. Cost is $5 and tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
Artists bring their own paints and materials and have the opportunity to share ideas with like-minded people. If you're not a member of The Victor Harbor Arts Society (VHAS) you can still attend for two sessions, after which membership of VHAS is necessary. Membership also entitles you to the many other benefits as shown throughout this website. It's a very casual group of friendly people, young and old!
